Amid vineyards and orchards, Andrée and Maurice Bey decided in this year to build a small campsite in Argelès, a stone’s throw from the Mediterranean and opposite the Albères, the end of the Pyrenees.
The campsite consisted of three paths and a sanitary building. It is far from the 4* campsite of today, but it is a base that has crossed generations: since its creation, the Les Galets campsite has been a place of life for families, a place of exchange and sharing.
The first evenings took place in the sanitary block or in the car park, to the crackle of the small speakers, but former customers are unanimous, we already felt that different atmosphere, that human warmth that makes your campsite special. Since 1972, we have had this atmosphere every year, day and night, around a sports tournament or a concert in the swimming pool.
The first restaurant only serves takeaway and chicken, if Andrée’s oven works (!).
In the early 1980s
A first expansion took place with the arrival of Maurice’s youngest son, Jean-François Bey. Jean-François worked for almost 35 years and made it the beautiful campsite it is today! Jean-François was able to transmit his generosity and sense of sharing to his staff, and thus to the campsite. This is why some of you have trusted us for more than 40 years!
The first swimming pool was built in 1985
The first swimming pool was built. It was rectangular, 15 metres by 7 metres!
In the early 1990s, the first chalets made of solid wood were built.
A second extension took place in 1993
A second extension took place, the second sanitary building was built at the back of the campsite.
At the beginning of the year 2000
The campsite took a new turn: the four-star rating came at the same time as the new water park, with heated swimming pool, the new sanitary building, the reorganisation of the paths, wider pitches, a new playground (multie sports ground…).
Services and activities were also improved to make Les Galets one of the best camping clubs in France. Since then, the campsite has continued to innovate and develop its exceptional plant park (more than 800 trees of some 30 different varieties), offer more and more fun and varied activities and provide an impeccable quality of service. To date, the campsite has received numerous seals of approval, including: Camping Qualité, Qualité Sud de France, Clef Verte, Famille Plus, Campmed…

French and European tourists rank Les Galets among the 10 best campsites in France on the Tripadvisor customer review forum!
The campsite remains on a human scale (233 pitches, 5 hectares), allowing us to maintain a privileged relationship with all our customers.
Jean-François Bey is gradually retiring, passing on his knowledge and the spirit of the campsite to his eldest son Manuel, who is very happy to be able to keep this place of sharing alive, to continue writing the history of this beautiful campsite with you. Since then, the campsite has continued to innovate: a water park at our campsite in Argeles sur mer and a new pedestrian area.

After 2 kilometres of trenches, the installation of 40 new antennas and the connection to optical fibre, we offer you a quality WIFI network throughout the campsite… Even though on holiday it is often advisable to disconnect in order to enjoy the sun, the sea and nature, we know that good internet access is an important comfort for everyone.
Camping Les Galets therefore offers free WIFI access for one connection. If several people want to surf at the same time, you can take advantage of the Family Pass which allows 4 people to surf at the same time. This Family Pass is offered at the following rate:
